Ugh. I told a prospective graduate student that Michael wanted me to speak to that she could call me. She should be calling at any minute. Not sure this is the best time of the year for me to try to rave about graduate school. Not to mention my hatred for the phone.

Joy.
I have to admit, I can watch this show for hours if I catch it. I mean, the man's crazy. And I hope to never find myself in the places he purposefully goes into to survive.

Catching up with Mark was great. I love having people in my life who have no problem disappearing for awhile and showing up when it's the right place and right time. I think it's been 4 years since we've seen each other (it may have even been that long since we've spoken), but dinner was perfectly relaxed and comfortable. We both had vague ideas about what the other was up to as a result of mutual friends, but they were very vague.

He works for the Department of Energy, in the National Nuclear Security Administration. He does emergency and rescue related stuff (he spent 6 years in fire departments). Nothing like that sort of employment to make your academic career feel . . . small.

Anyways. It was great.
