The last several days, I keep forgetting to put my bag of ricola (highest menthol content of the available cough drops) in my purse. So, I now have 5 bags of ricola because I keep needing to buy them. It's a crap shoot going out in public - I know when I'm healthy I am not particularly thrilled to be standing next to someone who sounds like thet're coughing up their lungs. Now I am that person.

Signs you haven't slept well: I tried to open my apartment door with my remote car unlocker thing as I was coming down the hall.

Not that I'm aware of. My mom discovered my name when a girl working at the travel agent her and my father frequented (now there's an institution from the stone age) was named Shauna. My middle name is my mom's maiden name.

This is something most of you are not likely to give a damn about, but I have to say - I hate how lawyers write. (Sorry, if there are any of you here.) Most of my complaints aside, I loathe the endnote style. I don't want to flip back and forth for the important information (which, when a lawyer is writing an academic article in my experience, is so often to be found in the fricken hundreds of endnotes because they're never quite certain what the important information is). This is doubly annoying when, more often than not, the damned case information is buried back there! Shouldn't we care about case name, maybe even a docket number, and not have to flip to the back of the damned book to find every single one? Endnotes placed at the end of each individual chapter (I'm currently complaining about an edited volume) are more manageable. But placing all notes for every chapter in one section at the back of the book really . . . bugs the hell out of me.

Not that anyone asked, of course. But I don't care.

You would be amazed at some of the crap I've found while doing online research on chronic coughs (it's me, I have to) . . .

I plan to call my doctor's medical assistant tomorrow and plead for something else. Apparently one can overdose on dextromethorphan (I'm sure it's much more than even I have in my apartment - and that's quite a lot) and it's obviously not working for me anyways. I've even doubled the dose they suggest on the back. No dice. And since that's the only available over the counter cough suppressant . . . I need something else. Because if I don't get sleep soon, things aren't going to go well. For myself or anyone who interacts with me.

Then I've found all of these natural, home remedies.
Onion syrup? Um, ew.
A paste of almonds, butter, and sugar? May taste good but . . . eh?
Tea with honey: no shit. Try again.
Chocolate - I'm suspicious, but I'm willing to bank on research done in London on only 10 people simply because it's chocolate. And I'll take another excuse to eat it.
Stop smoking - oh wait, I don't.
However, I will be buying grapes, cayenne pepper, and ginger tomorrow . . . I'm desperate, and they can't hurt.


EDIT: Oh, and, not surprisingly, buying new underwear did not alleviate my cough. But I had to at least give it a try this afternoon.
