01. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Um . . . taken Vicodin. Thanks to my wisdom teeth. And got a master's. I was a discussant on a panel.
02. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I reject New Year's resolutions since they just make me disappointed.
03. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Um . . . no.
04. Did anyone close to you die?
Our cat of nearly 18 years, Oliver. :(
05. What countries did you visit?
It was a lame year for traveling - nothing outside of the US.

06. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Hm. More sanity. More laughter. More happiness. Better hair.
07. What date(s) from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
See, the memory thing. I'll remember seeing Tool at the Paramount in May and adopting Maynard a few days later. I'll remember October 20th (for a little while, at least) since I finally got my MA. I'll remember seeing the Rolling Stones at Quest Field.
08. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
The MA. Sad, but true. Nothing life changing, but it had been a long time coming . . .
09. What was your biggest failure?
This is a bad question. Promotes negative thinking. Which I do enough of.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Haha. Um - let's see. I spent a month recovering from getting my final 2 wisdom teeth removed. Got some nasty infection that made my face swell up, turn funny colors (yellowish-brown), and lock my jaw up. Good times. I had multiple chest colds, a sinus infection that would never go away, and plenty of emotional/mental breakdowns . . .

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I buy too much. But Maynard was a good investment.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Um. I'm actually pretty damned proud of my sister for a number of things this year.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I'll vote myself here.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Where didn't it go? Cats. Traveling. Consumer therapy (bad Shauna, bad). Eating out. Beer.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My visits home. Getting my MA. Having everyone visit me in the late summer/fall and finally getting to show various people I'm close to my 'new' home.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
I don't know . . .
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Wiser? Does having an advanced degree count?
Healthier? Mentally, maybe. Thanks to Zoloft and therapy. Physically, still working on it. I don't remember being sick so often last year.
Richer? Definitely not. In a substantial amount more debt.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Work? Having fun? Kept in touch with various people.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Less sitting on my ass wasting time in front of the TV . . . less random stress, anxiety, depression, and so forth. Less doubting myself. Shopping. Drinking beer.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my mom's side of the family - first at the parents' house with the 4 of us, then at my mom's sister's house with the rest of them. I love it. :)

21. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
Not sure yet. But it will be in Albany this year instead of Seattle.
22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
I definitely fell in love with Maynard.
23. How many one-night stands?
Right.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
House. Then Dexter.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nah.

26. What was the best new book you read?
But I love reading! Um . . . Frederick Pohl's Gateway. Pressfield's Gates of Fire is up there too.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hm. What did I discover this year? Maybe Neko Case? Snow Patrol? Imogen Heap?
28. What did you want and get?
A master's. (Seriously, we're talking weighing on me for 3 years . . . )
29. What did you want and not get?
Sanity.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Hm. I can never remember what I saw beyond a month ago.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Turned 25. Had a mini-quarter life crisis. I think mom was supposed to be in town then, but had to stay home due to dad's post-surgery complications. So, I spent the day seeing a movie, shopping, eating and drinking with Carolyn. Yay for good friends.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Oh goodness. So many things.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Jeans. Comfortable shoes (birkenstocks, Danskos). Lots of button down shirts.
34. What kept you sane?
Considering that one of the few variables to change this year was the medication . . . and my cats. Definitely the cats.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I have a serious crush on Hugh Laurie as House. (Who didn't know that.) But now I have one on Michael C. Hall as Dexter. Serial killer as sexy. Who knew.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Same sex marriage. Per usual. Global warming as well.
37. Who did you miss?
Those in Albany.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Me? Meet people? Psh.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.
If you really want to do something and you actively make the decision to do it - you will.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
