Ironic, isn't it? Republicans will leave issues for states to decide unless it has to do with drugs, same sex unions, education, affirmative action, abortion, the right do die with dignity and anything else the religious right deems so objectionable that the will of the majority of people in any given state couldn't POSSIBLY be reasonable. "You want gay marriage? No, no, no you couldn't want to legalize such an abomination. And those people who voted 'yes' on it? They didn't mean it. Let's make it illegal." I don't know if or when the issue will end up before the Supreme Court; it seems more likely that it will/could if governors are intent on willfully ignoring what the voters want.
