a good, but interesting, evening. back in high school i (and a few others) nearly lived at this funky coffee shop in downtown albany - mother earth's - which, sadly, is no longer there. this folk singer, paddy kilrain, played there regularly. we'd follow her around albany/schenectady/troy/etc. when she was elsewhere. i probably haven't seen her since high school or freshmen year of college, and it turned out she was playing this evening. so, for old time's sake, jamy, sam, and i got together for it.
it was fun, and funny, being there. felt a bit like an odd time warpy thing, since seeing paddy and musicians like her and being in and around the kind of crowd that was there were activities that defined a good chunk of my junior and senior years of high school. made me a bit nostalgic. but, also made me look at my life today in contrast to then, and i realized how different it is in so many ways . . .
some things never change, however. i will, always and forever, overanalyze most of life.
