Sonofa$%!?&!

I think I'm getting sick.

It at least feels that way.

And this really, really aggravates me.

(As an aside, I wish the 'E' worked my consistently on this damn keyboard.)

Still no rings. I swear I have searched, with bright flashlight, everywhere. I even went for under the fridge, which - unless Maynard decided to turn one or more of them into a toy (which isn't totally impossible) - would be very unlikely. No rings. But I did find 11 mice. Guess that's where they kept disappearing to . . .

I've decided they've (my rings) violated usual laws of physics and simply . . . disappeared. And this makes me very sad. :(

Back for the Internet took off, there were BBS's (Bulletin Board Systems). I ran one out of Montgomery, AL and the software I used utilized the Scroll Lock LED to indicate if a user could page the SysOp (me). If it was on, they could.

Well, the Scroll Lock LED didn't always work on my keyboard. Living as I did in the Air Force dorms at the time, my computer saw more than it's fair share of people and had more than its fair share of stuff spilled on the keyboard.

This LED, sometimes it would come on, sometimes it wouldn't. If it wasn't coming on, the only way I could see if it was supposed to be on was to tap the keyboard until it came on. If it didn't after a few taps, I'd hit the Scroll Lock LED and try again until I saw it light up.

One day, I decided I had enough. I was going to fix this Scroll Lock LED. I opened it up and upon close examination, I determined that the solder was cracked leading up to the LED. Easy enough to fix.

I very carefully repaired the solder around the Scroll Lock LED and touched out a couple other cracked connections I found. I also cleaned up the insides of the keyboard because it was quite a mess - OJ and Soda.

Finishing up, I put the keyboard back together and plugged it in.

Not a damn key worked EXCEPT the Scroll Lock key & LED.

Have you looked in your shoes? Sometimes my cats will play with things and hide them in our shoes.

I'm going to have to take a picture of the set-up of my desk: where my ring holder was and where I found them - which was in a basket that was on the other side of the desk and higher up. How they wound up in there from the ring holder falling on the floor . . . I'll never know.
